Articles submitted to ASKARA journal must be the result of original research in the fields of Visual Communication Design, Product Design, Visual Arts, and related disciplines as set out on the Focus and Scope page; must not constitute plagiarism; and must not have been published previously in any other outlet. Every submission must be accompanied by a signed Statement of Willingness for Publication and a signed AI-Usage Integrity Pact. All manuscripts are reviewed anonymously (blind review) by peer reviewers appointed by the editor according to their field of expertise. Authors are required to revise their manuscript in accordance with the recommendations of the peer reviewers and editor within the timeframe specified by the editorial team.

All matters relating to citation permissions, the use of software, or other copyrighted material in the preparation of an article are the sole responsibility of the author. Determination of permissions relating to Intellectual Property Rights, including any legal consequences that may arise from the use of such material, lies entirely outside the responsibility of the editorial team of ASKARA journal.

ASKARA journal is published twice a year, in July and December. Manuscripts to be considered for a given publication period must be submitted no later than one month before the scheduled publication date.

1. General Requirements

Manuscripts must be written in Indonesian or English, with a length of between 3,000 and 5,000 words, excluding the abstract and references. Manuscripts must be typed on A4 paper with 1.5 line spacing, top and left margins of 3 cm, bottom and right margins of 2 cm, using 12 point Times New Roman font.

Citations and the reference list must follow the 7th edition of the APA Style (American Psychological Association). Manuscripts must include a minimum of 15 references, at least 80 percent of which must be drawn from scholarly journal articles rather than textbooks or non-academic sources. The majority of references at least 70 percent should have been published within the last 10 years to ensure the currency of the scholarly literature cited.

Every image, photograph, or illustration included in the manuscript must clearly indicate its source, either through a link or an ownership caption, and must have a minimum resolution of 300 dpi to ensure adequate print quality. Figures and tables must be numbered sequentially and must be directly referred to within the body of the text.

All incoming manuscripts are checked for similarity using iThenticate. Manuscripts with a similarity index above 20 percent are returned to the author for revision before proceeding to the review stage.

2. Author Identity

Manuscripts must include the full name of each author without academic titles, institutional affiliation, an active email address, and an ORCID iD (if available) for every author. The corresponding author must be clearly indicated and is responsible for communication with the editorial team throughout the review process.

3. Manuscript Structure

Manuscripts must be organized according to the following structure: Title, Author Names and Affiliations, Abstract and Keywords, Introduction, Methodology, Results and Discussion, Conclusion, Acknowledgments (if any), and References.

MANUSCRIPT WRITING GUIDELINES

1. The Title must be written in two languages, Indonesian and English, each containing a maximum of 15 words, in 14-point Times New Roman, capitalized, bold, and center-aligned. The title must specifically reflect the content of the research and avoid overly general phrasing.
2. The Abstract must be written in two languages, Indonesian and English, each between 150 and 250 words in a single paragraph without citations. The abstract must concisely cover the background, research objectives, methods used, key findings, and conclusion. Each abstract must be accompanied by 3 to 5 keywords reflecting the main topics of the manuscript.
3. The Introduction must present the background of the problem, the research objectives, the research questions or problem statement, and a literature review of relevant theories and prior studies. This section must establish the novelty of the research relative to previous studies.
4. The Methodology must explain the research approach used — whether quantitative, qualitative, mixed methods, or practice-based research, which is common in the fields of design and visual art. This section must describe the data-collection techniques, primary and secondary data sources, and the analytical methods used to answer the research questions.
5. Results and Discussion must present the research findings systematically, supported by relevant data, tables, or figures. The discussion must relate the findings to the theoretical framework presented in the introduction and compare them with the results of previously published, similar studies.
6. The Conclusion must concisely address the research objectives without repeating sentences from the results and discussion section. This section may include the limitations of the study and suggestions for further research.

Every reference cited in the text must appear in the reference list, and conversely, every entry in the reference list must be cited at least once in the body of the text. The use of reference-management software such as Mendeley is required to maintain consistency in citation formatting.

5. Manuscript Submission Process

Manuscripts must be submitted online through the Open Journal System (OJS) of ASKARA journal. Authors are required to attach a signed Letter of Consent & AI Usage Disclosure as a supplementary file at the time of submission. Manuscripts that do not conform to the format and structure described above will be returned to the author for correction before proceeding to the peer-review stage. ASKARA journal is published twice a year, in July and December. Manuscripts for the July issue are submitted during the period from January to March, and manuscripts for the December issue are submitted during the period from August to October.
